Yep-- It's Still Summer.

Well that's that! I'm done! No more swimming lessons for me!  But I have to say, I think that butterfly stroke started to grow on me...  At least I'm getting better.  I think, in general, I have a better chance of liking something when I'm proficient in whatever that something turns out to be... In this case, it's the butterfly stroke.  The instructor was amazing (as she was for the entire session) and really helped me to improve my technique.

Today was a slow day... I woke up rather late.  It's times like these when I'm grateful it's summer.  I can, in theory, sleep as late as I want and not feel bad about it or be afraid I'll be late for school or something.  My muscles kinda ached today, so I stayed in bed for a while and finished another Nora Roberts book.  Food came somewhere in there, followed by some piano practice and internet exploring.  Before I knew it, Boo and I were taken to our last swimming class (her classes were directly after mine, and at the same pool too. How convenient).  It was a somewhat rigorous class, with a ton of attention turned towards the butterfly stroke, two IMs back to back, and other various practice.  But it was all worth it once I got a certificate of completion at the end.  On the way home, we stopped to get some pizza and brought it back with us.

Life can't get better than this-- pizza, dessert, warm clothes and Green Acres playing in the background.  Mom and Dad have a liking for old shows-- we've got (I think) all seasons of Green Acres, a couple of The Brady Bunch, some of the Dick Van Dyke Show, I Love Lucy, Make Room For Daddy, The Beverly Hillbillies, and Petticoat Junction just to name some of the popular ones in our family on DVD.  Sometimes, I think that these shows are so much better than the junk that is on TV today... I mean, try comparing the episode of "I Love Lucy" featuring "Vitavitavegimin" to an episode of "Keeping Up With the Kardashians".  (FYI, that show is a waste of airtime)  Now don't get me wrong, I love shows (from time to time) such as "X Factor", "How I Met Your Mother", and "Shark Week" (and some other shows on Discovery Channel), but some of what's on TV now is just ridiculous.  I personally love the throwback shows we watch in our DVD player-- I'd take a Dick Van Dyke episode over Degrassi any day.  Not to mention that the humour back then (albeit cheesy at times) was more wholesome and not as tacky.  Nowadays, it's like every joke has to be sexual or crude in order to be funny, when really, it doesn't have to be like that.  I remember stumbling across a YouTube video showing Robin Williams doing a comedy routine in some venue.  And I was disappointed at the fact that all he did was cuss 60% of the time.  Now I don't know if I can watch "Mork and Mindy" without my image of Robin Williams being a bit soured... I'll admit, he's done some great work; he was in "Night Of the Museum" as Teddy Roosevelt and voiced goofy characters like the genie from Disney's "Aladdin" (sure, this is the more innocent side of his career, but still).  I just wish that people would realize that you don't have to drop the F bomb in order to make things funny.

Ha-- I love how that turned into a total critique of Robin Williams... But I do love those older shows.
 On another note, today's the first day without the boyfriend and I'm not dead yet! Woohoo!  Haha, I kid.  I'm not one to die and/or wallow in misery when we're apart for more than a day.  I hope he's having fun, though. More fun than me, that is.  I've been feeling so bored lately.  And it makes me think things like "I really should be getting a job or something... or volunteering..." Well, I'll be volunteering soon-- VBS (vacation bible school) will be starting soon at a local church and I'll be helping with that.  As for this week, it's almost the weekend and hopefully I can see some friends this Saturday and/or Sunday.

The weather's still horrid, as it has been the entire week, basically.  It was weird... it was sunny and raining for a couple minutes today-- it messed with my senses.  Forecasts say that tomorrow should be even WORSE heat-wise, making me cringe.  Perhaps I'll stay indoors and work on my various summer projects.
...If I don't end up procrastinating, that is.  (;
