Soooooooooooooo I am really excited. One more step toward adulthood, it seems... but *drumroll*
Guess who has their learner's permit now? :D
If you guessed me, you're correct. (:
Annnnd I know you must be thinking, "God, she's 17 and didn't get her permit until now?" Well, there's a couple explanations for that. First of all, I'm kinda only a year late. This is because I did pre-kindergarten and thus, end up in my sophomore year of high school (when they teach driver's ed) at age 16. I personally wanted to wait until I finished driver's ed before I even considered getting my permit. There's some more time. Annnnd then there was the need to find time to actually go to the DMV and git 'er done. Every time I turned around, weekends were taken up, rehearsal consumed time after school.... there just wasn't time. So this spring break I was determined to get it done and over with.
So yesterday, my mom and I went to the DMV to take care of business. It was a rather brisk spring day (nice and sunny though) and we made it our first stop in a long line of errands. I went in, had to wait a while... there was a decent amount of people waiting in line, sitting around, etc... But I went to the service desk, got my waiting ticket, and sat down. We waited for about an hour until they called me. T131. (That's me!) I went up to the desk to turn in my filled out paper work, the lady there administered my eye exam, and I got my picture taken. (Still dreading when the card comes in the mail XD) Afterwards I was told to go take my test. I took a signs test and a basic knowledge exam. I passed both with flying colours, and as they say, the rest is history. (: I am now the proud owner of a learner's permit.
I have a lot of hours of driving to get in over the span of 9 months-- when I can eventually get my real official license. But until then... I'll be ridin' around, like I own the town.. (;
