A Happy Fourth.

Happy Fourth of July, guys.

(I'm using my time traveling powers again... Yay for scheduled posts!)



So.... I feel like the Fourth of Julys of my life have all been rather random.  Last year we ended up going to this cool burger place called Fudruckers and then sitting outside near this lawn thing with a whole bunch of people because apparently it was a really good place to view these big fireworks (: This year, the fireworks are the 5th, not the 4th, but we're still going to go anyways.  (I'll be doing that later tonight (; )

Last night, however, was interesting.  The beginning of the day consisted of a trip to Stafford Hall,  the birthplace of Robert E. Lee.  I bet you're probably thinking, ".....Why?"

Whell.

You know how I have all those AP history assignments? Well one part of that assignment is to visit someplace historically significant, take a picture of me there (as proof I went), draw a picture/map of the place, and write a 2 page paper about it.  Yuck.

 ...Soooo my mom found this place, with free admission on July 4th and it looked kinda interesting.  So we went.  I wish I could give you a lot of fun interesting history, but... Truth is, the most I learned while I was there was me picking up a book about the place in the gift shop and reading a bit of it.  They didn't really give us much information, and the tour of the house wasn't really informative at all.  So.  I plan on using my good buddy, The Internet, to help me with this project.  But for you guys, I can give you pictures (:

After we left there, we went to find somewhere fun to eat.  We tried a new place, seeing as we were kinda two hours from home.  We found a really quaint beach-town sort of restaurant (which makes sense, seeing as it was kinda located in Colonial Beach) called Wilkerson's Seafood Restaurant.    They're RIGHT THERE on the edge of the Potomac River, and, seeing as basically the entire restaurant is like, made of windows, we had a spectacular view.  I tried to get pictures of the view from inside the restaurant, but people started looking at me like I was a creeper, so... Sorry if the ones I put here don't look very good XD
It was like "hurry--- snipe a picture while that couple is away serving themselves at the all-you-can-eat seafood bar!"  (<--- True story.)

Fail of getting a picture of the restaurant sign-- I'm just too short, haha.  You can even see the shadow of me standing on the edge of the car on the driver's side...

The whole restaurant is like that.  Windows.  Windows everywhere.

After we ate (I got a delicious broiled flounder sammich), we headed to the pier located directly behind the restaurant.  It was nearing sunset, and there were people further out on the pier fishing and others sitting on the shore of the Potomac on blankets looking at stray fireworks being launched off in the distance.  It was nice.  The breeze was wonderful, and the fact that we were watching the colors of the sunset melt into one another made it even moar fantastic.  (:  Here are some pictures because the beauty was too awesome to pass up... :D.









The night ended with a really late Denny's visit, as we wanted to get some dessert.  Lemme just say that I approve of their mango smoothies (:
