Yes, I am referring to this past week's hectic-ness level.
Let's investigate, shall we? (ahem, long winded post ahead... lol)
MONDAY.
Saw my boyfriend's brother Andrew play an AMAZING show at Jammin' Java, a coffee house a little while aways from where I live. He brought the house down. I bought a customized t-shirt, seeing as I'm officially a fan now. (Have been for quite some time... (; ) I'll do a little advertising here for him since he's been such an inspiration to me as a musician and person... Just saying... if you're maybe tired of listening to the same old same old, just look him up. You will most likely not be disappointed (: WOOO ANDREW-TUFANO-TOPIA. In other news, that night I uh... may or may not have had some vodka. By accident! I swear, lol. I was so thirsty (that's what she said...:P) and when they finally plunked down a glass of clear liquid I was like "WHEW FINALLY WATER" and took a heaping sip. Just as I was doing so, J was like "STEPHANIE WHAT ARE YOU DOING THAT'S VODKA" and I stopped. So that's why it had tasted funny... Yeah. Whoops. The guy who had ordered it laughed at me, asking if I enjoyed it and, *sigh* if I wanted to try more. What, was he trying to get me drunk?
Yeah.
No.
Didn't drink any more. I promise *crosses heart and hopes to die*
So yeah. Look at me gettin' down with my accidentally bad-ass self >:P
TUESDAY.
My bf's mom's birthday. I had a relatively chill day at work, though the scheduled broker's open at a house was all fancy and she gave out goodie bags to the brokers/clients/real estate agent friends. I didn't go, but I did have a cupcake that came from the catering people that were there and it was delicious... So obviously it must have been successful... (; Annnnd then the rest of the night was spent with J and his mom, enjoying the various birthday festivities. We had these delicious ice cream-filled cupcakes from Coldstone that were to die for... We stuck a candle in one of them and sang to her (she was turning 21 for the second time... XD) and finished off the night with just chill conversation and whatnot...
WEDNESDAY.
One of my favourite days of last week... The day started off with work, and then afterwards a date with my mom (yes, I totally have those) at La Madeleine. (Magnifique!) The later at night.... It was last minute, but I'm glad we did it-- Andrea and I had planned to go to the Loudoun County Fair on Friday, but it turns out she wasn't going to be available that day. SO. We went, spur of the moment, Wednesday night. We had gone last year around the same time(ish) and we had some traditions to keep up with. First off, we had to ride the amusement ride thingies. (We agreed that after Jolly Roger's, it's hard to compete... Once you go to boardwalk type stuff, carnival stuff seems so anti-climactic.. lol) Next, we had to have fried oreos. I know, I know, they're so bad for you. I had maybe one. And I didn't die of a heart attack! ...Yet. :P On our way to the fair, however, we noticed that the sky was particularly greyish/dark purple. We knew that it was going to rain, but the question was when. The first hour or so when we were there was fine, but after we got off this one ride, it sprinkled a bit... and then poured. Like WHOOSH out of nowhere, torrents of rain. We had to take cover under the tiny surrounding roof of a free-standing hot dog stand... The part over our heads was only a foot and a half deep, so we looked like those spies in movies who press themselves up to a wall really tightly... XD We waited there for what seemed a long while, as it continued to pour and pour and pour and pour some more. Finally, we had gotten a bit sick of it and we decided to make a run for it. Sure enough, only after we sprint through the downpour and get to a more substantial building does the rain decide to subside. That's how it works, doesn't it? Ah whell. We ended the night listening to an up and coming country group called Chris Lane. Chris Lane is the lead singer. Ha. Surprise. Apparently, one of his songs, "Broken Windshield View" is like, top ten on iTunes? Or something? That's what I heard... But anyways. Andrea and I listened to him play until nightfall and I have to say... I think I enjoy him. He invited people to come down in front of his little stage thing to get a better view of his shaggy country hotness better connect with the band, so Andrea and I went, dodging screaming fangirls in the process. I swear, they're nuts. But he works his lady crowd, singing directly to girls and taking selfies with them during songs... Sigh... it's so nuts... But anyways... during one of Chris' songs, he threw his guitar pick out into us sea of girls. You can imagine the fangirls. Screaming, swooning, all that jazz... The pick whizzes by my head, and lands on the grass. It's dark, his pick is black, so it's hard to see. A bunch of girls swarm near me to see if they can find where it landed. Well, their little tan bodies get tired of looking and they move back into the glom of fangirls. I, on the otherhand, keep trying to discreetly look. If anyone was getting the pick, it was going to be me, lol. So I'd look around any time the stage lights were bright enough to light up the grass. Later in the show, he threw more picks out to the crowd, but I wanted his original one. It was a goal of mine XD Sooooooooooo after the show ended, it was my chance to really scour the grass. Andrea was helping me, and, before I knew it, I looked down and saw it at my feet. It was glorious. I just felt like HA! See where determination gets you in life? Lol. Wellllll I could tell Andrea really wanted a pick... she had wanted to make a necklace out of mine, but my pride was kinda screaming like "AWW HELLLL NAW!" So. We walked up to the band after the show and talked with them a bit (the fangirls had cleared so they could all go "Meet Chris Lane in the back!") and then I asked one of the kick-ass guitarists if he had an extra pick. He found one and gave it to us, and Andrea was happy to finally have one. I'm telling you guys, interesting things happen when you don't give up... LIFE happens when you don't give up... :D
You can quote me on that. That is my quote. Woo. I said that. I'll sign autographs later. (;
But anyways... 'twas a fun night.
THURSDAY.
...was supposed to be a day spent with J. But... J wasn't feeling well at all (caught his little brother's sickness earlier in the week) so it kinda fizzled out. But you know, the day was still okay. It was just a bit hard was all.
FRIDAY.
After work I met up with a bunch of friends at a mexican place near us-- Towards the end of the meal, since J was talking about how he hadn't really done anything for his birthday (on July 8) we discreetly told the waiter that it was his birthday, and the staff came out after we were done eating lunch with a huge sombrero and free sopapillas as a birthday treat. I'm sure I have a picture of him in the sombrero looking utterly embarrased... XD But it was a fun meal. Good people I hadn't seen for a while. It was nice.
SATURDAY.
KINGS DOMINION DAY! Yeah, that's right. So... THAT was technically supposed to be for J's birthday, but it didn't come about until this past weekend. We left early Saturday morning to get to the park kinda soon after it opened. We spent the day there, but we didn't do much because J was still feeling not well... his stomach was really bothering him, so no intense rollercoasters... Shame, because I know he really loves them... Later at night was fun though. One of the highlights of the night was a sunset ferris wheel ride, complete with J's little brother winning a big stuffed banana at a whack-a-mile game booth, winning 1000 tickets off a spinning wheel game in the arcade, and fireworks when it was totally dark. It turned out to be a good night. (It was also really hot earlier in the day... so that made it hard to function, lol)
SUNDAY.
Church. Breakfast. An hour to practice my driving skills. It was a chill day.
And now I'm here. It's Monday. Work was... alright, I guess. Nothing too special, lol. One of my bosses is on vacation and she's SUPER amazing. You don't realize how much you miss/need her until she's gone on vacation!!!
In other news, tonight's my first night volunteering at (my own church this time) VBS! Excited for that (: I'm a CREW LEADER this year, so I get to lead the little kids around, and it's so fun... I think I wrote about my VBS experience last year... but I know this year will be filled with interesting stories as well.
How was YOUR week last week?
And better yet, how do you plan on conquering this one? (;
