My goodness, it's been a while. I guess the busyness of this week is has just been... well, at an all-time high.
VBS is done. No more screaming kids in the pews, which is somewhat of a relief. But I have to say, I will miss the little guys. There were some pretty fun moments had during that week.
Friday afternoon was spent (finally) with J. I hadn't seen him all week and our definition of "man, I haven't seen you in forever" is like, five days. Pretty bad, I know. But with our busy summer lives, I guess it gives us time to miss each other. Apparently, some "missing" is good in a relationship. We're not the kind of people who want to spend every waking moment with each other, however attractive that idea seems. But it's funny, sometimes, I wish I could do exactly that. But that's clingy and blah blah blah all the stuff you shouldn't be in a relationship. Sigh. Anyways.
So I spent the afternoon with J-- just hanging out and playing video games. (We're such nerds like that, sometimes.) In addition, it was also his dad's birthday. I ended up seeing J again later that night in a surprise show for his dad at a music club/cafe called Jammin' Java. His older brother had gotten tickets to see one of John Mayer's former guitarists, David Ryan Harris. He's no longer with John Mayer, (he's out on his own making his own music and whatnot) but that was the "wow-factor" of the night, since J's dad is a huge Mayer fan. I have to say, since I've been with J, I have been exposed to a lot of new music. I remember when I heard my first John Mayer song-- it was "Say" and I had heard it on the radio when I was younger. Then, I didn't really know the name of the artist-- all I knew is that I loved the voice singing and that the lyrics to that song were too repetitive. XD However my present self owns like, 38 of his songs. (This may not seem like a lot, but when my iPod's on shuffle, the chances of a John Mayer song coming on is kinda high.) Thanks to J, I've been thrust into this world of John Mayer, and I know I'm branded for life. I can bet you my future self will have a hard time hearing a John Mayer song and not thinking of J. But anyways. The concert was lovely, and he was really good. He could play his guitar like nobody's business, and had a smooth voice-- one like honey-- and I could hear a bit of Mayer influence, especially in his falsetto. He was like a mix between Darius Rucker, John Mayer and Ray Charles. If you can picture that. (: You should check him and his albums out here, here and here (: He also had a great sense of humour, both musically and just in his talking to the audience in general. It was, overall, a win-win-win-win. J's dad was surprised (yay!) and thoroughly enjoyed the whole thing. I'm glad I got to be there to help him celebrate.
Today was a day on my own and with the family. Since this was the tax-free weekend for our state, we went to the mall later in the day and got a bunch of things. The boys got new shoes for school, I got a gift for my cousin's birthday and some stuff for myself as well. We must have spent two hours in that blasted mall before we got everything we had set out to get. I normally love going to the mall-- it's full of fun sights and smells and occasionally, good deals. But when you're trudging around for two hours with the rents and five siblings in tow on an endless slab of concrete, it's not so enjoyable anymore. I did not go running yesterday, I did not go running on Friday. But I think I made up for it walking all over God's commercial creation today.
After two grueling hours in the mall, we'd all worked up quite the appetite and went out to eat to satisfy our hunger. We got home kinda late, and after I finish this post I am headed headed straight to bed because I am just that exhausted. In fact, I think I just might end it here. (: Goodnight, lovelies!
xoxo
