It's the first week that has actually felt like legitimate autumn. You know, where the clouds are kinda low in the sky, drooping in a greyish-purple-y manner...
I have to say that this week has been nothing short of a train wreck. I don't know... for some reason, it's as if my stress level has been through the roof. Between all the deadlines for school... deadlines with extra curricular stuff, my grandfather and the upcoming surgery, family issues...the fact that basically all of last week I was getting approximately 4-5 hours of sleep every night... It does catch up with you, I'll tell you that. I normally do not fall asleep in class... I prefer being awake and alert, even if it is boring as hell. But this past week, it's like I could not keep from nodding off in Bio. It's amazing how good a 10 minute snooze ends up feeling...
But hey, we're teenagers. Overworked, sleep-deprived teenagers. It's what we do. (<---that should change, though.)
Thursday was Halloween. It was interesting, I went to school dressed as Link, from the game Legend of Zelda. My costume was really simplified though, and super basic, mostly because it was really last minute. Otherwise, I think I would've taken the time to make it a bit more intricate, and perhaps I would've made my own sword and shield. Also, this photo is lacking Link's signature hat, so it's not really that legit...
But it was funny. I was recognizable, at least. Somewhat, that is... I had a bunch of people ask me things like
"Are you a leprechaun?"
"Are you an elf?"
"Are you Peter Pan?" (the same person, who was just being weird later asks)
"Are you Wendy, from Peter Pan?" XD
But the thing I think annoyed me most was when people'd say
"Are you Zelda?"
No, I am not Zelda. Zelda is a PRINCESS. A female. I am Link, FROM the game Zelda.
So that was fun.
Every year, our neighborhood has this end of court pizza party thing, where everyone gathers with their kids and dogs in costume, and it's a fun time. Later that night, come trick-or-treating time, it started to rain.
Needless to say, I didn't want to go out in the rain, trudging around with siblings in my leather boots...

Halloween was, for me, productive instead. I got some work done that was due the next day, with the aid of some Halloween candy to keep me going.
Friday was like a godsend. I had rehearsal after school for this one act play our school is doing, and J stayed with me for that. After it was done, we were going to go to his house and hang out, starting off the weekend in an awesome way. We did all of that and more, and even had a Darth Vader mask to add to the chaos. I took quite a few Vader selfies... and on the car ride to his place, I wore the mask and glued my face to the window, and we tried to see how many people we could get to give us "what the heck..." looks.
The rest of the night was spent watching a movie and the Washington Caps hockey game... our team won
7-0. I even had the privilege of seeing a goalie fight. And after the goalies went at it, it seemed like the rest of the team followed suit. It was a fun night.
So far, I've noticed I've been living it a week at a time. Just get through this week, I'd tell myself. The weekend is for revamping and rejuvenating.
Well the weekend's finally here... and it's a long one. We get Saturday and Sunday (of course) but also Monday and Tuesday because of a teacher workday on Monday, and voting day on November 5th. So today, my mom wanted like a mini getaway. (These always seem to be to places that are like, educational and culturally stimulating...)
We're apparently going to Hershey, Pennsylvania (approx. 2 hours away) to the Hershey Chocolate Factory. I remember going there a WHILE ago... but I was really young. They show how they make chocolate, and there are numerous tours and attractions associated with the facility, so that should be fun. (I'll be sure to get lots of pictures of chocolate!) (;
On Monday, I believe we'll be touring one of the Amish parts of PA, visiting farms and whatnot. I just hope it doesn't get too cold.... I need to finish packing actually, so I'll throw in a couple scarves and jackets when I do that....
We'll get back late Monday night, and the next morning I have all-district chorus auditions that I'm sorta kinda not really ready for... But I'll make it work.
Also, last night, as of 2am, it was the end of Daylight Saving's Time... So it feels like I got more sleep. Thank goodness for that; I was starting to lag behind again.
Anyways.
Here's to a long weekend, hopefully one that will not leave me shivering out of my skin...
Cheers.
xoxo
