Andy Grammer songs...
But anyways. Today was fun. I woke up somewhat early in enough time to help Dad, Bubby and Albert leave for their boy scout camp adventure, and ultimately say goodbye. They'll be gone this whole coming week, so I guess it's just us girls in the house... oh, and Ruski hiding in the basement. So much for him being the man of the house... I guess we'll have to rely on Tasha and Travis to protect us. It's Day 1 Without the Guys. WOMEN OF THE HOUSE FTW! We got this (;
A little while after the boys and dad left, I got ready to go on "an adventure" with the best guy friend (I'll call him Blye.) Towel? Check. Sunglasses? Check. Bathing suit under clothes? Check. The heat was annoying (as it has been all fricking week) but I rode over on my bike to meet him. I had told him to wear swim trunks because we may just get wet. He had originally told me, "Just plan something for us to do and we'll go do it." Well.
We ended up walking to his house so I could stash my bike and then continuing on to a bit of forested path where we walked and walked until we found just the right spot-- The trail we were following has a small lake thing body of water on one side, and really shallow creek on the other. When we were walking, I kept my eye on the left side of us, peering over the edge of the really tall bank at the creek. We found a not-so-steep place we could walk down, and after a lot of "oh, come ON you'll be FINE"s, I got Blye to get into the water. Previously, he had told me "YOU can go swimming... I'll just watch. Unless you convince me otherwise..." XD
(This picture is not my own. Photo creds to http://senecasawmill.com/wp-content/uploads/2012/05/Seneca-Jones-Cavitt-Creek.jpg-- this isn't where we swam at all but looks like the sort of area we were in, except where we were was a bit narrower and the sides were huge banks where tons of erosion happened.
The mud under our feet was hard-ish and kind of slippery, and the rocks were like a death wish but the sun was shining through the water and it was a nice, cool, clear spot. It was definitely a relief from the heat, and the water was decent depth-wise. My iPod was on full blast, on shuffle from on the side of the bank where our clothes were while we were swimming. (If you could call it that-- it was more like wading since the water was shallow... and Blye... well, he was just having a falling out with Mother Nature.) It was a fun time-- steering away from the path to take a spontaneous dip in a bit of clear refreshing water... and I laughed at the fact that Blye kept cussing Mother Nature...the bugs... the mud... the probably germ infested water...I'm surprised he didn't fall down once in all of his spazzing. To add to things, there were tiny little fishies nibbling at our legs. I don't think Blye liked those fishies much... And, despite the weather forecast, it didn't rain the whole time we were outside! I was even able to make it back before any rain happened, and I don't think any rain has even fallen this whole day. How lucky.
Our fun earlier today reminded me of life's simplest pleasures-- friends, laughter, summer... I mean, we were kicking it old school in a random creek, and honestly, I thought it was just as fun (if not more) than a pool or water park. An added bonus: Blye admits that it was fun, and that he doesn't hate nature so much anymore. XD Oh, Blye....
After we managed to climb up the bank, we headed back to his house and he challenged me to a game of chess... It was neck and neck for a while, but his years of Chess Club or whatnot eventually aided him in his successful checkmate of my king. A little while we ate a lunch of delicious dumplings (thanks, Blye's dad!) and later, ice pops (courtesy of Blye's little sister ^_^). Then we traded places playing random songs on his piano until I was like "oh look at my wrist it's getting late." And I headed home. We had talked earlier about possibly getting J to come with us on an "adventure" (like we had today) next time. Only, Blye says he'd be
And speaking of J, that reminds me. Still away with his family, and I miss him. He'll be back late Monday though, so I think I am fully capable of surviving until then.
After getting home, I played piano on my keyboard and ended up falling asleep... well, I guess it was too comfortable of a spot-- perhaps when I'm practicing it shouldn't be on my bed in the dreaded and lulling upstairs heat. I blame it on the fact that I was outdoors practically all day.
All that's left is something to eat, perhaps a movie, a finished blog entry and then...
.. my day will officially = complete.
xoxo
