How is it March already.
Time did not have my permission to pass....
Ah, well. It was bound to get here eventually.
You know what irks me? This weather lately. First it's snowing. Then it's raining. Then it's freezing. Then it's 65 degrees (like it was today!) And then there's a winter storm watch in the forecast. Why can't Mama Nature make up her mind? I mean, I'll take all the snow days I can get... No school is fine by me. But I was really starting to love the warm temperatures there for a minute...
Bleh. Enough small talk about the weather. Let's get to the fact that I haven't sat down and written here since like FEBRUARY. That's nuts. Again, lame excuse.... but... I've been so freaking busy. Life's not letting up any time soon.
So I guess I'll update y'all on a bit of things that have happened... (just saying right now I don't even feel badly about screwing homework because today was such a fantastic day :D)
But here we go.
Pop-Pop's getting better....I think.
He's out of the hospital. He's back at home. We've been praying for him. Nana seems to think he's not the same... She says he'll never be like his old self. We haven't really been able to visit him recently... at least, I haven't. Mom took a couple of trips to go see him, but that was a bit of a while ago. We can't judge anything right now. My grandmother says he forgets things and rambles a bit... But he's always kinda done that. I certainly hope she's maybe being overemotional... I really don't know what I'd do or how I'd feel if I looked into his warm blue eyes and not see his witty quirky spirit... It's been a couple of weeks (probably about a month now) since he had the strokes.. I hope to God there aren't any major lasting effects...
I'm getting better.
I'm trying to stay positive. School is still annoying, workload is still annoying, but I've just been trying to concentrate on things I love. (There has been a LOT of music listening lately.)
The weather (when it isn't slipping into it's icy wintry habits) is actually getting nice.
I went running a couple days ago and it felt amazing. Not too hot, not to cold, just good. And the little tulip/daffodil sprouts coming out of the ground made me smile... Hopefully this upcoming winter forecast monster storm thing won't kill them... (They're too young to die!!!!!)
I got a new bike (FINALLY!)
For too long I hijacked my little bro's BMX-y sort of bike. I think of repair after repair, and the days I'd sit in my garage trying to trick it out and fix it up... It's seen it's last days. And I have a new one, now. I got it today! It's gorgeous. Purple and blue. Fun gears. It's slightly used, (I have to thank my mom--and her amazing friend-- for such an awesome find/score) but it's perfect. I can't wait to make it mine and tweak it to my hearts content.
My choir is the best.
Every year the choirs in our county have a big assessment. We go to some random high school and perform two pieces and a sight reading piece for judges. They score us, give us a brief clinic to help us better technique, and then we go on our merry way to sight reading, where we cold read a few bars as a choir. Our assessment songs couldn't be more different. To start the song set off, we sang Set Me As A Seal by Rene Clausen. It's a gorgeous acappella song, based on the Song(s) of Solomon. Our second song was Luk Luk Lumbu, an acappella mystical sort of ode to nature. Very fun to sing, and I have to say... our choir kind of did not like it at first... but it came such a long way and was definitely the highlight of the assessment. The judges loved it, and loved our attempts to stay authentic to the Indonesian style with our forward sound in the chorus-y part. It was a great experience and I'm so proud of us (:
Music is the best.
It's been a while since I've gotten to like, actually sit down and just jam out with people. I saw one of my good friends today-- she and I sat down with her guitar and phone and messed around with a song we plan on doing at our school's talent show. We developed a rather tricked out acoustic version of Katy Perry's "Roar", with a bit of inspiration from these guys (: (They're amazing, btw!!!) It was an awesome way to spend the afternoon--- gorgeous outside making awesome music with a truly gorgeous girl (: Shout out to to mah lovely SiddhiK!!! <3
Guess what this is.
It's my birthstone. Aquamarine. I swear, it's like there's a reason I'm addicted to water... but
Yeah. I can't believe it. I'll be 17 in less than 15 days. Where has my life gone?! I swear it was just yesterday I was turning 13... Now, I'm halfway through high school, I'm almost a legal adult.... It's crazy.
Soooooooooooooo yeah.
That's my life as of late.
That, combined with homework, lack of sleep, moar homework, a steady diet of cereal/milk and Sour Patch Kids (lol whell, I'm not that unhealthy...), and amazingly wonderful friends.
March is going to be amazing... what's left of it anyways (;
xoxo
